The following lab sections reinforce key concepts in biology and allow students to solidify their understanding by using active learning and experimentation.

There are a variety of activities included in these labs, some that require supplies from your home and some that use supplies provided to you – but, whatever the experiment may be, students should approach these activities as serious scientists, using good scientific protocols to collect accurate data, and always following safety procedures.

Here are a few things to remember before you begin:

• Before you start any lab, always review the materials needed and make sure you have everything necessary for the experiment.
• Give yourself a safe working space.
• Read through the procedure before beginning.
• Take note of how long an experiment is expected to take, making sure you have enough time to complete the experiment.
• Ask your instructor if you have any questions about the lab.
• Always follow the safety procedures, being sure to read any applicable SDS, and clean up as directed.
